Oblidivm Returns!!!

     Oblidivm is back!

After more than a year of silence since July 2024, I’m finally returning with new music and renewed energy.

The new single “Alone Among Stars” is coming soon — but before the official release, you’ll be able to hear the Radio Edit on the compilation Electric Synthticate Vol. 5, featuring many incredible Synthwave and retro-electronic artists.

It feels great to be back. The journey continues…

Oblidivm Enters Hibernation Mode

 Hey everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well! I wanted to share a quick update with you regarding my latest single. Despite the hard work and passion that went into it, the response hasn’t been quite what I hoped for. As a result, I’ve decided to put the project on hold for a few months to explore new ideas and rethink my approach.

This isn’t goodbye—just a “see you soon.” Oblidivm will be back, stronger and more inspired than ever.

Wishing you all a fantastic summer! Stay tuned and thank you for your continued support.

Release date of the single 'Europa Clipper': June 21, 2024!

I now have a confirmed release date for the next Oblidivm single, 'Europa Clipper.' A new space adventure where I try to mix, as always, retro electronic with the cinematic sound of a space odyssey. Additionally, this is the first track that I mixed in Dolby Atmos. I'm very excited to release it and see what you think!

The Next Single already has a title: EUROPA CLIPPER

Taking the name of the mission that NASA will soon send to the astonishing moon of Jupiter named Europa, I will soon start working on my next long-duration single which, moreover, I want to mix for the first time in Dolby Atmos format. Let's see what comes out of this adventure!

HAPPY YEAR 2024!!!!

Well, exactly one year ago, I set the release date for Oblidivm's second LP, an album I had been working on for a long time, but which was progressing very slowly. I set myself the goal of launching it on November 1st, 2023, and I am proud to say that I managed to achieve that objective!

The Fermi Paradox has received quite a bit of acceptance and good reviews, and although I am seeing much better listener numbers, it still falls far short of expectations. It seems that, as of today, Oblidivm's style is very niche. The question I ask myself is, what is the next step?

In this upcoming year of 2024, I intend to release a single in Dolby Atmos format, and I might (just might) start an alternative project with much darker music. Just to explore that territory. Another option I'm considering is returning to making free music for video games, as I did before.

2023 was a year of mixed emotions, with some small joys and a great sadness, especially due to the death of one of my best friends, whom I will always remember.

Thus, I begin 2024 with many doubts about where I will direct my projects. But also with a lot of eagerness to see what it has in store for me!

To all of you who have supported me and have read this blog at some point, I just want to say a heartfelt thank you and wish you a happy and wonderful year 2024!!

Journey Beyond the Stars: Announcing 'The Fermi Paradox' LP Release

Four years after the release of my debut LP, I'm thrilled to announce the release of 'The Fermi Paradox' on November 1st. Initially envisioned as a 6-track follow-up in the vein of my first album, it has grown and evolved into an 11-track odyssey diving deeper into the mysteries of the cosmos. 'The Fermi Paradox' is an expansion of my musical journey, inviting listeners on a sonic voyage that transcends time and space. Join me on this new cosmic adventure.

Sad News

Heartbroken to announce the loss of one of my dearest friends today. We shared over 30 years of memories, joys and sorrows, growing together. He was one of the founders of the original Oblidivm back in 2003, when it was nothing more than a project of instrumental gothic music. His name was Andrés Martínez, but we all knew him as 'Piti'.

My heart feels a profound void, but I find solace in the thought that he awaits me, enjoying a beer from somewhere among the stars...

Farewell, my friend… Farewell.

Another chapter with the Art of the project!

I continue with my personal odyssey in the visual aspect of my musical project. I hired a fantastic artist named "La Espiral Oscura" to reinvent the cover of two of my works. Specifically, he worked on the cover of the LP titled "Immensity" and the single "Beyond The Oort Cloud." My intention was to keep working with him, but the project doesn't make money, and I couldn't afford to keep paying for his services. To maintain stylistic consistency, and as I said in the previous post, I had to revert to the original covers for all my works. Covers that were stock images from the Finnish artist 'Grandeluc.'

Finally, I have found a solution. It is using the generative image AI 'Midjourney,' which, in its version 5, has achieved incredible results, very close to what I was looking for. Most of the images have been edited by me, but obviously, the AI has done the work.

I know this brings controversy. Can AI take jobs away from artists?

But let's look at it this way: Midjourney hasn't taken any work away from an artist because, without it, I wouldn't have been able to hire anyone either. So it's a tool that opens up new horizons.

This is the incredible result:

Return to Original Covers!

If you take a look at the online stores where I have uploaded my work, you will see that the original covers of the albums have been recovered.

A few months ago, I had decided to work with the Spanish artist "La Espiral Oscura" to reimagine the covers of my already published music and also work on the graphic design of future releases.

However, I'm afraid I have to put a stop to that idea because of the endemic evil that plagues all amateur producers like me. Budget.

I really enjoy making Oblidivm's music, but as long as the project does not provide a sufficient economic return, I must continue producing myself and looking for something cheaper than for the visual section.

That is why, to avoid visual incongruity between the covers of my different albums, I recover the original covers, adapted from designs by the Finnish artist Grandeluc, even though I do not have the exclusive rights to them.

HAPPY YEAR 2023!!!!

Just a year ago, I congratulated the year 2022 on these dates, and commented on the image that "A new LP is coming". The LP did not arrive in 2022, but I am much closer to finishing it... My intention is to release "The Fermi Paradox" on November 1, 2023... just four years after the release of my first album "Immensity "... I'll get it?

New Track I'm Working Right Now!

I am working right now on another of the tracks that will be part of the next LP. In this case, the song is titled "Wrong Perception of Reality" and deals with the possibility that our perception of the reality that surrounds us is not correct ... or is not the only one!

The vision of the "Immensity" cover by... an AI!

After the re-interpretation of the cover of my first LP, "Immensity", which was made by the Spanish artist @la_espiral_oscura . Using the same instructions that I indicated to the artist, this time, I show you three other possible covers for the LP, this time made by an AI called @stablediffusion . I still prefer the cover of the human artist, but the results are amazing!

Another cover reinterpreted by La Espiral Oscura

As I mentioned a few months ago, I had the idea of revising the covers of my releases, to be able to relate my work to a very personal visual style and also to have exclusive rights to these images, something that did not happen with the magnificent work by the finnish artist grandeluc, whose work i used as covers until now through partial rights.

I love the visual interpretation of my music that La Espiral Oscura does and after he did a great job with the cover of the single "Beyond The Oort Cloud", this time it was the turn of the iconic cover of my opera prima, the LP " Immensity". The original cover was not by the artist grandeluc, but a collage of royalty-free images... What do you think of the change?

Next LP - Work in Progress Chapter II - "The Fermi paradox" track

I continue to work on my sophomore LP. This time it is the song that gives the album its name, "The Fermi Paradox". It will be the first theme song on the LP after the Intro and I wanted it to be a good sample of what is going to be heard during the rest of the album.

Another three tracks are in progress and I hope I can say that I will finish sometime in 2023

New Visual Artist for Oblidivm

Until now, for the covers of Oblidivm, I have been using stock images of the great Finnish artist Grandeluc, which fit very well with my vision for this project, but I needed dedicated art and also had the rights to the covers to make them something unique, since that stock images can be used in other projects by other people.

Finally, I found a magnificent Spanish artist, called "La Espiral Oscura", to whom I will entrust the visual section of the new LP, but who will also, one by one, remake the covers of my previous releases.

His first order was to remake the cover of the single "Beyond The Oort Cloud", and the result has been sensational!

Oblidivm Origins

A little over 6 years ago, the seed of what is now the Oblidivm project was born. It was a video game for mobile devices titled "Galaxy Strikers".

At that time I was collaborating with small video game studios making the soundtracks for their projects.

The 24 Code Limit studio asked me to compose the soundtrack for a retro spaceship game, with a very "neon" aesthetic. I fell in love with the project, since I love space odysseys and retro music and I really enjoyed composing it. That probably helped me do probably my best work within this facet.

Oblidivm is the legacy of that project. Some of the original tracks have been adapted, such as "The Long Journey of Mankind", from my LP "Immensity", which is really two of the songs from this soundtrack mixed together. And right now I'm recovering another of the original songs to include it in the next LP "The Fermi Paradox", which I hope to release in late 2022 or early 2023.

Here the original soundtrack.

Rest In Peace VANGELIS

On May 17, the composer who has been one of my greatest influences in electronic music passed away. Of course I speak of the great Vangelis.

Together with Jean Michel Jarre and Mike Oldfield, Vangelis discovered electronic music in my childhood and made me fall in love with the most melodic and magical part of this musical style.

The greatest ones are leaving us, but they leave us a legacy of incredible music that will inspire other artists for centuries.

Rest in peace, master.
