HAPPY YEAR 2024!!!!

Well, exactly one year ago, I set the release date for Oblidivm's second LP, an album I had been working on for a long time, but which was progressing very slowly. I set myself the goal of launching it on November 1st, 2023, and I am proud to say that I managed to achieve that objective!

The Fermi Paradox has received quite a bit of acceptance and good reviews, and although I am seeing much better listener numbers, it still falls far short of expectations. It seems that, as of today, Oblidivm's style is very niche. The question I ask myself is, what is the next step?

In this upcoming year of 2024, I intend to release a single in Dolby Atmos format, and I might (just might) start an alternative project with much darker music. Just to explore that territory. Another option I'm considering is returning to making free music for video games, as I did before.

2023 was a year of mixed emotions, with some small joys and a great sadness, especially due to the death of one of my best friends, whom I will always remember.

Thus, I begin 2024 with many doubts about where I will direct my projects. But also with a lot of eagerness to see what it has in store for me!

To all of you who have supported me and have read this blog at some point, I just want to say a heartfelt thank you and wish you a happy and wonderful year 2024!!

Journey Beyond the Stars: Announcing 'The Fermi Paradox' LP Release

Four years after the release of my debut LP, I'm thrilled to announce the release of 'The Fermi Paradox' on November 1st. Initially envisioned as a 6-track follow-up in the vein of my first album, it has grown and evolved into an 11-track odyssey diving deeper into the mysteries of the cosmos. 'The Fermi Paradox' is an expansion of my musical journey, inviting listeners on a sonic voyage that transcends time and space. Join me on this new cosmic adventure.

Sad News

Heartbroken to announce the loss of one of my dearest friends today. We shared over 30 years of memories, joys and sorrows, growing together. He was one of the founders of the original Oblidivm back in 2003, when it was nothing more than a project of instrumental gothic music. His name was Andrés Martínez, but we all knew him as 'Piti'.

My heart feels a profound void, but I find solace in the thought that he awaits me, enjoying a beer from somewhere among the stars...

Farewell, my friend… Farewell.

Another chapter with the Art of the project!

I continue with my personal odyssey in the visual aspect of my musical project. I hired a fantastic artist named "La Espiral Oscura" to reinvent the cover of two of my works. Specifically, he worked on the cover of the LP titled "Immensity" and the single "Beyond The Oort Cloud." My intention was to keep working with him, but the project doesn't make money, and I couldn't afford to keep paying for his services. To maintain stylistic consistency, and as I said in the previous post, I had to revert to the original covers for all my works. Covers that were stock images from the Finnish artist 'Grandeluc.'

Finally, I have found a solution. It is using the generative image AI 'Midjourney,' which, in its version 5, has achieved incredible results, very close to what I was looking for. Most of the images have been edited by me, but obviously, the AI has done the work.

I know this brings controversy. Can AI take jobs away from artists?

But let's look at it this way: Midjourney hasn't taken any work away from an artist because, without it, I wouldn't have been able to hire anyone either. So it's a tool that opens up new horizons.

This is the incredible result:

Return to Original Covers!

If you take a look at the online stores where I have uploaded my work, you will see that the original covers of the albums have been recovered.

A few months ago, I had decided to work with the Spanish artist "La Espiral Oscura" to reimagine the covers of my already published music and also work on the graphic design of future releases.

However, I'm afraid I have to put a stop to that idea because of the endemic evil that plagues all amateur producers like me. Budget.

I really enjoy making Oblidivm's music, but as long as the project does not provide a sufficient economic return, I must continue producing myself and looking for something cheaper than for the visual section.

That is why, to avoid visual incongruity between the covers of my different albums, I recover the original covers, adapted from designs by the Finnish artist Grandeluc, even though I do not have the exclusive rights to them.
